From March 22 to 23 in Lomé, about eighty participants from public and private institutions, technical and financial partners, civil society, traditional chiefs, universities, took part in a meeting on two major national forest sector development projects in Togo. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The meeting marked the official launch of the TCP / TOG / 3604 project « Support for the Upgrading and Modernization of Non-timber Forest Products and the validation of the National Reforestation Program (PNR) in Togo. The meeting had two objectives: the first objective was to share with stakeholders the objectives, activities and expected results and to validate the annual work plan (PTA) of the TCP / TOG / 3604 project and the second objective was to examine and validate the final document of the National Program Reforestation (PNR), whose strategic objective is to contribute to the progressive increase in the national forest cover to 30% by the year 2050.
The meeting was officially opened by Mr. André Johnson, The Minister of Environment and Forest Resources and was attended by the FAO Representative in Togo, Mr. Antonio Isaac Monteiro.
